What Malaʻe Productions contributed
Malaʻe Productions provided underwater cinematography and full equipment support for Deadliest Catch: Bloodline, the Discovery Channel spin-off following the sons of Deadliest Catch captains as they seek a secret fishing ground in Hawaiian waters.
Open-ocean work is where our marine platforms earn their keep. Channel-crossing fishing boats are based at Keauhou Harbor on the Kona coast and at Kawaihae, with a third bound for Hilo, a Zodiac inflatable covers the surf zone, and a GoPro fleet handles multi-angle POV coverage on deck and in the water. Underwater cinematography is shot on RED Digital Cinema cameras in Nauticam housings for RED DSMC2 and DSMC3, with ports, monitors and underwater lighting.
Equipment support for a series working at sea came from the same inventory: the RED fleet with PL and EF mounts, the portable Shotover F1 gimbal for boat work, Ronin 2 and DJI RS3 handheld kits, and the DJI Inspire fleet flown under FAA Part 107 with coastal airspace authorizations handled by us.
The same underwater crews and rental packages are available to broadcast series and documentary productions on the Big Island, Oahu, Maui and Kauai.
