Nāpali Coast Stock Footage from Kauai

Kauai's Nāpali Coast is in Malaʻe Productions' aerial reel — our coastline coverage runs from the Nāpali Coast to the Big Island's volcanic shore — and in the equipment gallery, where motion control is set up on location on the Nāpali Coast. Aerial and motion-control time-lapse coverage of the sea cliffs and coastline is what the Hawaii stock footage library holds for this subject.

What is in the library

The aerial coverage is flown under FAA Part 107 on the DJI Inspire fleet — Inspire 3 with the Zenmuse X9-8K and Inspire 2 with the Zenmuse X7 — with the coastal airspace waivers sea-cliff work requires handled by us, and Mavic 3 Cine and Mavic 4 for agile coverage in confined coastal and forest environments. Sea cliffs and coastline are the subjects; our aerial reel's coastline coverage runs from here to the Big Island's volcanic shore.

The motion-control material comes from the time-lapse discipline: Rhino and Kessler motorized sliders and Emotimo systems running programmable moves on high-sensitivity full-frame cameras, set up on location on the Nāpali Coast as the equipment gallery shows. Time lapse of coastline, weather and light is a standing part of the library, and the Nāpali sequences are landscape and coastal rather than marine wildlife, which lives in the shark and whale pages.

The library is described across this site as 4K and 8K, and the RED Digital Cinema systems we shoot on record in 8K. For any specific clip we confirm the resolution, frame rate and delivery format before quoting, rather than promising a specification a particular shot does not have.

Typical licensing uses

Commercial and brand films license Nāpali aerials as the definitive Kauai backdrop, from tourism and airline campaigns to product films that need the cliffs without a helicopter day. Documentary and broadcast productions use the coastline as establishing footage for Kauai and for Hawaii's geology and weather. Editorial use follows travel and environmental coverage of the coast. Our drone work appears in National Geographic's World's Most Dangerous Sharks and throughout our own natural history productions, and the same aerial discipline produced the Nāpali coverage.

How licensing works

Licensing runs in four steps. First, an inquiry: send the Nāpali Coast sequence you are after, the production it is for and how it will be used, through the form below or to sales@malaeproductions.com. Second, clip selection: we pull the candidate clips from the archive and send you a selection to review, with the resolution and format of each confirmed. Third, a quote: pricing follows the use — broadcast, documentary, commercial or editorial — along with territory, term and the number of clips, and we reply with availability and pricing, typically within one business day. Fourth, delivery: once the license is agreed, the selected clips are delivered at the resolution and format in the quote.

If the archive does not hold the angle or light you need, the Kauai page describes how the RED, DJI and motion-control packages and crew travel to Kauai from our Big Island base; sea cliffs and coastal airspace are what the Inspire fleet and our coastal waivers are for.

Nāpali Coast footage questions

Is the Nāpali Coast footage aerial?

The Nāpali material is aerial coverage flown under FAA Part 107 on the DJI Inspire fleet, plus motion-control time lapse shot on location. We confirm the resolution and format of each clip during clip selection.

Do you hold marine wildlife footage from Kauai as well?

The Nāpali sequences are landscape and coastal. Marine wildlife — humpback whales, tiger sharks, whale sharks — is in the same library and has its own pages; tell us the subject and we check what exists for Kauai specifically.

Can you shoot new Nāpali Coast aerials for us?

Yes. The DJI Inspire 3 and Inspire 2 fleet, Mavic 3 Cine and Mavic 4 and the crew travel to Kauai from our Big Island base, and we handle the airspace authorizations and coastal waivers. Send dates and a shot list and we quote a shoot alongside the licensing option.
